I've relied heavily on the internet for information in my formal studies. I'm in the TESOL program, but intend to teach adults. In searching for resources, I commonly come across items on (or somehow related to) about.com's education section. I remember thinking that this might be a good resource in and of itself, but never really explored the possibility. I've a long-standing preference for yahoo.com in general because I have a yahoo.com email address, so it's always been the most convenient search engine. This bias notwithstanding, I really think about.com has a very professional and comprehensive education section. To test this hunch, I will endeavor to use this site exclusively for internet research for this course.
For one thing, the list of hyperlinks on the LH side of the page makes navigating the site seem quick and relatively effortless. At the top, there are links to 'Student Resources' and 'Teacher Resources'. Wherever I encounter such distictions in life, I am forced to conclude that the thought processes of the person who decides which is what have very little in common with mine. So alot of backtracking is to be expected. This is part of why I so like their layout, with its ever-present section of hyperlinks to help us back out of tight spots.
